I was a late starter to Podiatry but not before I had crammed a couple of other careers in first. I love to chat, listen and get to know people and this began when I trained in 1986 as a beauty therapist at the infamous Yorkshire College of Beauty Therapy. This led me into an eleven-year career with Clarins the French skincare company. Here I worked as a therapist, a counter consultant, trainer and sales manager. Clarins engrained in me high standards of professional customer care and a strong work ethic.
During my time I had the wonderful opportunity to be trained by the late Jacques Courtin- Clarins, the founder of Clarins who was such an inspiration and cared about looking after women.
With double additions to my family I needed a change of pace and qualified as a lecturer in beauty therapy with a Certificate in Education at Sunderland University. This led to a teaching post then a management post at Tameside College in Greater Manchester for eleven years. Here I utilised all my skills from Clarins and developed quality, professional standards, communication, employability which led to a grade 1 for the beauty therapy department. I then dipped my toe in the water by managing Health and Social Care meeting a Podiatrist and on an accompanying visit with my husband to see his chiropodist I was desperate to get at enucleating corns!
So, with a very supportive family - I left my teaching career and embarked on a full-time degree in Podiatry at Salford University gaining a first class honours degree. Podiatry allows me to do what I love most and be back working with people on a one to one. Making people feel good and putting a spring in their step.
Combining my skills, I specialise in medical pedicures to deliver the ultimate experience in Podiatry and beauty therapy - leaving your toes beautifully manicured whilst treating any medical conditions.
I live in the Peak District and love walking in the hills with my two lurcher dogs. I have and have had many problems with my own feet so understand the importance of being pain free, mobile and the importance of wearing the right footwear.
